PRP FACIAL REJUVINATION

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, also known as the ‘Vampire Facelift’ is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure which uses the patient’s own blood to promote collagen growth within the skin. It’s a revolutionary repair system that places growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself.

There is no risk of allergy or rejection as the PRP is obtained from you and the concentrated natural growth factors are only meant for you. Results from this procedure are usually noticeable after 3 weeks with optimal collagen regeneration taking up to 3 months to occur. The results typically last up to 18 months. Effect of the treatment may vary and most conditions will require 2-3 sessions, usually 4-6 weeks apart. There is no limit to the number of treatments you can have for skin rejuvenation and maintenance.

What are the advantages of the PRP facial?

The potential benefits of PRP have led to widespread interest in its use for anti-aging purposes. The healing properties of the blood components in PRP can be used as a cosmetic treatment in the following areas:

Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
Tightening and toning the skin
Mild volume loss
Crow’s feet and dark under eye circles
Acne scarring
Rosacea

PRIOR TO TREATMENT

To ensure that you receive the best possible results, preparation prior to treatment is a vital part of the process.

  • Prepare skin with your practitioner-recommended skincare regime
  • Avoid waxing or laser for 48 hours prior to treatment
  • If you are using any product/s containing vitamin A, glycolic, or active skincare, (refer to our FAQ’s page for “what is active skin care”) as a part of your skin care regime, you are advised to stop using these seven days prior to treatment
  • Avoid anti-inflammatories (e.g.ibuprofen /aspirin) and also alcohol for 48 hours prior to treatment as this can increase your chance of bruising

AFTERCARE

You will be provided with detailed aftercare information prior to leaving the clinic after your PRP treatment.

Why is PRP Facial called the Vampire Facelift ?

  • Some practitioners have been known to use some of the red blood cells to create some of the rather dramatic (or gruesome) images found online.  The photos of Kim Kardashian receiving PRP therapy have become so famous that the Vampire Facelift is now also commonly called the “Kim Kardashian facial”.
  • In truth, your practitioner will only use the plasma part of the extracted blood, which is not red in colour and so the only marks left should be at the injection points themselves, like with any dermal or facial filler treatments.
